Oktoberfest!

OKay, so our very first Supper Club will be on Sunday October 18th at 4:30pm!
This should be really fun, and I can't wait to see all the cool themes and different foods ww will share together!

So, heres a little backround info on Oktoberfest:

Oktoberfest began as a celebration of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (who later became king) to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810. Today the annual celebration continues, beginning the third weekend in September and continuing through the first Sunday in October.

So as far as our menu for the night goes, I will be doing the main dish since Im hosting. I will be doing some form of bratwurst and sourkruat with onions & apples in the crock pot. I may also do some chicken German style schnitzle (I spelled that wrong, I know).
So other food items that are traditional are:

German potato salad ( which is hot)
sweet & sour cabbage
spatzel(noodles)
Black forest cake
Soft pretzels

Here are some sites for reciepes, and you can always google it...

I really think the german style potato salad is a must, its so good!! All warm & bacony hehe
And the black forest cake is also very tradtional, its a chocolate cake basically, Ive seen the box before at Vons, like Betty Crocker.

I will have juice, water etc for kiddos, just BYOB, or whatever you wish to drink. We can teach the kids the traditional chicken dance, maybe have a sausage toss? haha
Can't wait! So just comment to the post as to what you will bring. And if anyone has some good polka music, bring it on! :)

  1. I'm so excited!!! So I looked through the recipes and wanted to try something different. I decided I'm going to make German Spaetzle Dumplings. I've never made German food before, so hopefully it won't disappoint. Do you think it will be okay to make them and then transport? It says they should be sauteed and then served immediately. Let me know your thoughts on if this will work, or if I should just make the Spaetzle here and then saute them at Sarah's right before we eat. Can't wait to hear what everyone else is making!
